1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device and remember certain information about your session or preferences.
Local storage (also called Web Storage) is a similar technology that allows websites to store data locally in your browser. Unlike cookies, local storage data is not sent to the server with each request.
Redate.io uses cookies and local storage items for essential functionality, analytics, and advertising measurement. Non-essential cookies are only set after you give explicit consent through the cookie consent banner.
2. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of the Service. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. No consent is required for these cookies under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), as they are necessary for the provision of an information society service explicitly requested by the user.
Session cookie:
- Purpose: Maintains your logged-in state and session information.
- Duration: Expires when you close your browser or after 24 hours of inactivity.
- Data stored: Encrypted session identifier (no personal data in the cookie itself).
CSRF token:
- Purpose: Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks by validating that form submissions originate from the Redate.io website.
- Duration: Expires with the session.
- Data stored: Random security token.
3. Functional Storage
These items are stored in your browser's local storage to improve your experience. They are not essential for the Service to function and can be cleared from your browser settings at any time.
Language preference:
- Purpose: Stores your selected display language (EN or FR) so you do not need to select it on each visit.
- Duration: No expiration (persists until manually cleared).
- Data stored: Language code ("en" or "fr").
Display preferences:
- Purpose: Stores visual preferences for the user interface.
- Duration: No expiration (persists until manually cleared).
- Data stored: Preference settings (no personal data).
4. Affiliate Tracking Cookie
When you arrive on redate.io via a partner or affiliate link, a cookie is set to attribute your purchase to the referring partner. This cookie is necessary for the operation of Redate's partner and affiliate programs.
Affiliate cookie:
- Purpose: Records the referral code of the partner or affiliate who referred you.
- Duration: 30 to 90 days depending on the program type (partner or affiliate).
- Data stored: Referral code only. No personal data (name, email, browsing history) is stored in this cookie.
5. Consent Cookie
Redate.io uses CookieYes, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP), to manage cookie preferences and comply with the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR.
Consent cookie (cookieyes-consent):
- Purpose: Records which cookie categories you have accepted or rejected via the cookie consent banner.
- Duration: 1 year.
- Data stored: Your consent choices (categories accepted/rejected) and the date of consent. No personal data.
- Provider: CookieYes (Vysion Technologies OPC Pvt. Ltd.).
This cookie is exempt from consent requirements under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, as it is strictly necessary to respect and enforce your cookie preferences.
6. Analytics Cookies
Redate.io uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via Google Tag Manager (GTM) to measure website traffic and understand how visitors interact with the site. These cookies are only set after you give explicit consent through the cookie consent banner.
Google Analytics cookies:
- _ga: Distinguishes unique visitors. Duration: 2 years.
- _ga_[container-id]: Maintains session state. Duration: 2 years.
- _gid: Distinguishes unique visitors. Duration: 24 hours.
Google Tag Manager:
- GTM container ID: GTM-M975PBKH.
- GTM does not set cookies itself but manages the loading of analytics and marketing scripts based on your consent.
Data collected by Google Analytics includes: pages visited, time spent on pages, browser type, device type, country, and referral source. IP addresses are anonymized. No personal data (name, email, account information) is collected by analytics.
Redate.io uses Google Consent Mode v2, which ensures that Google tags respect your consent choices. When analytics cookies are denied, Google collects no data. When consent is later granted, Google may use cookieless pings to model conversions without identifying individual users.
You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time by changing your cookie preferences via the "Manage cookies" link in the website footer.
7. Marketing and Advertising Cookies
Redate.io may use marketing cookies to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns (such as Google Ads). These cookies are only set after you give explicit consent through the cookie consent banner.
Marketing cookies may include:
- Google Ads conversion tracking: Measures whether a click on a Google ad led to a desired action (such as a sign-up or purchase). No personal browsing data is shared with Redate.
- Google Ads remarketing: Allows Redate.io to show relevant ads to previous visitors on the Google Display Network. You can opt out of personalized ads via Google Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com).
When marketing cookies are denied via the consent banner, no advertising cookies are set, no remarketing lists are built, and no conversion data is sent to Google Ads.
Redate.io does not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for their own advertising purposes.
8. Legal Basis
The use of cookies and local storage by Redate is governed by Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as transposed into Belgian law by the Law of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications:
Essential cookies (session, CSRF, consent cookie): These cookies are exempt from consent requirements because they are strictly necessary for the provision of the Service explicitly requested by the user or for respecting cookie preferences.
Functional storage (language, display preferences): These items enhance user experience but are not essential. They do not process personal data and are stored only in local storage (not sent to the server).
Affiliate cookie: This cookie is necessary for the legitimate operation of Redate's referral programs. It contains no personal data.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): These cookies require explicit, informed, freely given consent before being set. Consent is collected via a cookie consent banner that complies with GDPR Article 7 and the ePrivacy Directive. Analytics cookies are not set until the user actively opts in.
Marketing cookies (Google Ads): These cookies also require explicit consent before being set. They are managed through the same consent banner. Consent for marketing cookies is separate from analytics consent, and each can be accepted or rejected independently.
Redate.io implements Google Consent Mode v2, which ensures that Google services respect user consent choices in real time.
9. Managing Cookies and Local Storage
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Manage cookies" link in the website footer. This opens the cookie consent banner, where you can accept or reject each cookie category independently.
You can also manage or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View the cookies stored on your device.
- Delete specific cookies or all cookies.
- Block cookies from specific websites or all websites.
- Clear local storage data.
Please note that disabling essential cookies (session cookie, CSRF token) will prevent you from logging in to or using the Service.
For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, consult your browser's help documentation.
